Commissioned by the Musée du Pays de Sarrebourg, artist Cornè Theron created this work for
the 50th anniversary of the installation of Chagall’s La Paix.

The art installation Passage brings together two works that explore the threshold between appearance and disappearance, while quesrioning our own role in contributing to peace.

The triptych In Search of Peace: Presence, Alteration, Disappearance depicts a figure before Chagall’s La Paix, gradually dissolving into colour through the distortion of an old piece of pixellated glass found during the renovation of the artist’s home.

The video installation Reflections of Peace uses this same glass. The image exists only when the
viewer steps into the frame; when they leave, it vanishes.

The work emphasises that peace relies on our presence, on our willingness to show up.

At the heart of Passage lies a meditation on fragility: not as weakness, but as a heightened sensitivity to what may be lost.

 

Between seeing and losing the image lies a space where everything becomes possible again.
